We play a key role in enabling SafeWork NSW to be a strong, transparent, accountable, and responsive, work health and safety regulator. Our team supports organisational strategy and planning, including through the Annual Regulatory Statement , and provides organisation-wide project and program evaluation support. About the role We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Officer to lead and enable their team, and project leads across the business to plan, design, deliver, monitor and evaluate complex projects to deliver on strategic and business priorities with measurable impact. The role sits within the Project Management Office (PMO) – the focus of this stream is developing and delivering fit-for-purpose systems, guidance, training, tools and resources to build capability, consistency, effective and efficient project management and project reporting across SafeWork. To deliver strategic and business outcomes with impact by enabling best practice project management. This role oversees project management and reporting including quality assurance processes for the business. Key Responsibilities Lead the planning and delivery of complex projects using sound project management principles. Oversee all aspects of the project lifecycle, including planning, resource coordination, budgeting, supplier and contract management, and reporting. Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships through effective communication, effective facilitation, change management, negotiation, and issue resolution. Monitor, report on and evaluate project implementation, including risk management, benefits realisation, and quality assurance. Manage project teams, ensuring compliance with governance and quality standards to achieve key milestones. Make evidence-informed recommendations to support decision-making. Offer expert advice on emerging project issues to ensure alignment with plans, budgets, and organisational priorities. Lead, support and develop direct reports and actively contribute to an innovative, transparent, accountable, positive and productive work culture. About you You are a proactive and strategic thinker with strong project management expertise. You excel at stakeholder engagement, risk management, and delivering results in dynamic and complex environments. You will preferably have: Demonstrated experience in managing complex projects end-to-end. Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and tools. Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills. Ability to manage budgets and resources effectively.
