About the Opportunity Our client is a major energy market participant with substantial operations across generation, retail and network services. With significant exposure to distributed energy resources including rooftop solar, battery storage and emerging technologies, they are at the forefront of managing Australia's energy transition. They are seeking a Senior Analyst - Distributed Energy Resources to lead technical analysis, strategy development and operational support for their growing DER portfolio. This role offers the opportunity to shape DER strategy, optimise performance and support commercial outcomes in a rapidly evolving energy landscape. As Senior Analyst - DER, you will be responsible for analysing DER performance, developing integration strategies, supporting market participation and providing technical expertise across the organisation. You will work closely with commercial, trading, operations and network teams to maximise value from DER whilst managing technical and regulatory challenges. Key Responsibilities Lead analysis of DER performance including rooftop solar generation, battery storage systems, demand response and flexible loads. Monitor operational performance, identify issues and develop strategies to optimise DER output and availability. Analyse generation patterns, storage dispatch and customer behaviour to support commercial decision-making. Develop and implement DER integration strategies including virtual power plant operations, aggregation models and market participation approaches. Assess technical feasibility, commercial viability and regulatory compliance of DER initiatives. Support business case development for DER investments and technology deployments. Conduct technical analysis to support DER market participation including FCAS provision, wholesale market exposure and network support services. Evaluate revenue opportunities across multiple value streams and develop optimisation strategies. Monitor market conditions and regulatory developments affecting DER participation. Analyse network impacts of DER including voltage management, power quality, hosting capacity and network constraints. Work with network service providers to resolve connection issues, manage export limitations and support network compliance. Assess opportunities for network support services and demand management. Support DER forecasting including solar generation forecasting, battery dispatch forecasting and customer behaviour modelling. Develop and validate forecasting methodologies to support trading, risk management and operational planning. Monitor forecast accuracy and implement improvements. Provide technical expertise on DER technologies including inverter capabilities, battery management systems, control systems and communication protocols. Assess emerging technologies and evaluate potential applications. Support vendor assessments and technology selection processes. Ensure DER operations comply with National Electricity Rules, network connection requirements, market participant obligations and relevant standards. Support regulatory submissions, compliance reporting and stakeholder engagement on DER matters. Prepare technical analyses, strategy recommendations and performance reports for management. Lead cross-functional projects and initiatives related to DER integration and optimisation. Build relationships with technology vendors, AEMO, network operators and industry stakeholders.
