About the Opportunity Our client is a global leader in energy management and industrial automation, providing integrated solutions that enable businesses to optimise energy consumption, reduce costs and participate in energy markets. They are seeking a Demand Response Lead to drive their demand response business, managing customer relationships, market participation and operational delivery. This role offers the opportunity to lead a high-impact programme, working with commercial and industrial customers to monetise flexibility whilst supporting grid stability. As Demand Response Lead, you will be responsible for managing demand response operations, optimising market participation, building customer portfolios and delivering commercial outcomes. You will work closely with customers, market operators and internal teams to maximise revenue from demand response programmes whilst ensuring operational excellence. Key Responsibilities Lead demand response operations including customer recruitment, portfolio management and market participation. Develop and implement strategies to grow demand response capacity across commercial and industrial customer segments. Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and identify new opportunities. Manage participation in demand response markets including AEMO Reliability and Emergency Reserve Trader (RERT), wholesale demand response mechanism (WDRM) and network demand management programmes. Optimise dispatch strategies to maximise revenue whilst meeting customer requirements and maintaining reliability. Monitor market conditions, price signals and system events to identify dispatch opportunities. Execute demand response events, coordinating with customers to deliver committed load reductions. Ensure accurate measurement, verification and settlement of demand response performance. Build and manage customer portfolios including contract negotiations, technical assessments and ongoing account management. Work with customers to identify load flexibility, develop curtailment strategies and implement enabling technology. Ensure customer satisfaction and retention whilst growing portfolio capacity. Conduct technical assessments of customer sites to evaluate demand response potential. Identify suitable loads, assess control capabilities and develop site-specific curtailment plans. Support deployment of control systems, metering and monitoring infrastructure. Forecast demand response availability and performance to support market bidding and operational planning. Monitor portfolio performance, analyse dispatch outcomes and identify opportunities for optimisation. Prepare performance reports and commercial analysis for management. Ensure demand response operations comply with market rules, programme requirements and customer agreements. Manage settlement processes, dispute resolution and regulatory reporting. Maintain detailed records of dispatch events, performance data and customer interactions. Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, customer experience and commercial performance. Support development of new demand response products and service offerings. Contribute to strategic planning and business development activities. Build relationships with AEMO, network service providers, technology vendors and industry stakeholders. Represent the organisation in industry forums and demand response working groups. Stay informed of market developments, regulatory changes and emerging opportunities.
