Our client a leading government agency is seeking a hands-on IT Architect to lead a strategic initiative focused on assessing and modernising DevOps practices within a mainframe environment. This role will drive improvements in developer experience, delivery efficiency, and automation across legacy systems. You'll collaborate with development and platform support teams to map current processes, identify pain points, and design pragmatic, iterative solutions aligned with enterprise architecture standards. Key Responsibilities Assess DevOps maturity across mainframe development teams Map current processes and identify developer challenges Recommend and support modern tooling and process improvements Document current and future state architectures and workflows Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver scalable, sustainable solutions Contribute to automation initiatives including secrets management and internal developer portals Skills & Experience Proven experience as a Solution or IT Architect in large enterprise environments Hands-on experience with z/OS mainframes and DevOps practices (Azure DevOps or Ansible preferred) Strong documentation skills for architecture and process flows Ability to identify and resolve developer pain points through automation Experience with secrets management (AWS Secrets Manager, Azure Key Vault) Familiarity with test automation and internal developer portals is a plus Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills If you wish to apply for this position, please submit your resume by clicking the 'Apply Now' button.
