About the position: Are you passionate about community safety, animal management, and local law enforcement? The City of Greater Geraldton is seeking a motivated and experienced Ranger to join our dedicated team. In this diverse and hands-on role, you'll be at the frontline of local law compliance—investigating complaints, patrolling public spaces, enforcing parking and camping regulations, and playing a critical role in animal management. You'll work closely with the community to promote responsible pet ownership, respond to incidents, and assist in the handling of animals at our Animal Management Facility. Key accountabilities: Effectively apply and administer the City’s responsibilities in relation to animal management, local laws, parking, camping grounds, caravan parks, off-road vehicles and litter, as per the relevant legislation, Council and community expectations. Provide effective customer engagement and build relationships with customers to ensure a consistent and responsive customer experience. Proactively enhance the knowledge of customers in relation to the services provided by the Ranger Services Team and provide customers with the skills and abilities to find critical information in order for them to self-serve if they so choose. Respond to general enquiries and complaints(personal, written or telephone) relating to area of expertise and ensure reviews of infringements are handled in a timely manner. Position requirements: We're seeking an experienced individual with strong interpersonal skills, a genuine interest in community service, and a willingness to learn. Experience in animal control, local law enforcement, or a similar field is highly desirable, with the ideal candidate possessing relevant qualifications to Ranger services. A full time position will participate in a rotating roster Monday to Sunday, working a maximum of five days out of seven, including one weekend a month and public holidays. Entitlements apply. Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City. Remuneration and benefits: A salary ranging from $76,072 per annum to $86,882 per annum (plus 15% loading for weekend shift per roster cycle) will be offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.
