The Opportunity This is 9 months initial contract with 15-month extension options. This is a great chance to step into a high-impact advisory role shaping Australia's regional cyber engagement through international Cyber, the government’s flagship program in the Indo-Pacific. You’ll work alongside national and international experts, government agencies, industry partners and overseas posts to design and implement cyber capacity-building projects and strategic initiatives. The Role Working at the intersection of cyber security, foreign policy and development, you will advise on and lead initiatives to enhance regional cyber capabilities. Working alongside with the Director, you will engage across the Department, the national security community, and international stakeholders to shape and deliver initiatives that align with Government policy priorities and respond to regional needs. Key Responsibilities Design initiatives that uplift cyber capabilities in Southeast Asia and the Pacific Coordinate strategic programs with internal and external stakeholders Draft concept notes, proposals, and business cases for new projects Contribute to broader cyber and critical technology strategic efforts Ensure programs meet transparency, procurement and policy standards The Ideal Person You will bring deep expertise in cyber security or critical technologies, and crisis management, with a proven ability to lead complex programs in fast-paced, high-stakes environments. You will have experience delivering programs in international funds or critical departments or similar government programs, including responsibility for budgeting, financial oversight, and performance reporting. Skilled in working across international agencies and foreign policy settings, you will confidently engage with diverse stakeholders from technical experts to senior decision-makers. You would be strong in translating complex technical issues into strategic action, designing initiatives that uplift regional cyber capability and align with Australia's foreign policy objectives.
