Security Clearance Required for this role: Must have a Current Baseline security clearance. The role will be located in either Adelaide, Brisbane CBD, Canberra or Melbourne CBD offices. We’re seeking an experienced IT Systems Analyst to join a large Federal Government agency supporting critical national systems. In this role, you will specialise in analysing, designing, developing, testing, implementing, and enhancing complex IT systems and applications that enable the agency’s operational and strategic objectives. You’ll work collaboratively with business areas, end users, and vendors to assess system suitability and ensure solutions are effective, efficient, and compliant with enterprise and security frameworks. You’ll also contribute to cost analysis, design considerations, development and testing approaches, staff capability improvements, and implementation timelines , supporting the successful delivery of ICT initiatives and projects. Key Responsibilities Gather, analyse, and document business and system requirements from stakeholders. Translate business needs into detailed functional and technical specifications. Analyse existing systems and recommend improvements or enhancements to meet business needs. Participate in design, development, testing, and implementation of complex ICT systems and applications. Collaborate with developers, testers, and solution architects to ensure solutions align with design and quality standards. Assess and validate the suitability and effectiveness of IT systems and applications. Contribute to cost analysis, design planning, and implementation timelines . Participate in planning, coordinating, and delivering tactical initiatives and project work that support agency outcomes. Ensure compliance with government ICT, security, and data-governance frameworks. Prepare and maintain detailed documentation, including data models, interface specifications, and design artefacts. Engage in Agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement and system optimisation. Skills and Experience Demonstrated experience as a Systems Analyst or IT Systems Analyst in large, complex ICT environments. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and document complex business processes. Practical experience in system design, development, testing, and implementation . Familiarity with system integration, APIs, and data flow design. Experience conducting cost and impact analysis and supporting solution evaluation and planning. Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, Enterprise Architect , or similar tools. Understanding of SDLC, Agile, and hybrid delivery methodologies. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills across business and technical teams. Knowledge of government ICT governance, change control, and compliance processes. Desirable Experience working within Federal Government environments. Exposure to technologies such as SAP, Siebel, mainframe, or cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP) . Relevant tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
