Our Branch The Engineering and Asset Management Branch is responsible for bus maintenance (both first-line at depots and second-line at Toowong Workshops), establishing and managing fleet maintenance policies, procuring fleet assets, maintaining electrical charging infrastructure, investigating incidents, managing non-bus assets and facilities, overseeing major projects, and coordinating IT requirements for the division The Role The Bus Assistants are a part of Public Transport Services which operates from seven bus depots across the greater Brisbane metropolitan area. Council’s bus depots ensure efficient operation of its bus fleet and include on-site maintenance, cleaning and refueling, scheduling and rostering of drivers. Each depot has a Garage Services Team that provides mechanical and non-mechanical bus maintenance to ensure the bus fleet is maintained to a high standard to meet public safety requirements and keep buses on the road. We are seeking 4 dedicated Bus Assistants to support the operation, maintenance, and service of buses and depot vehicles. In this role, you will assist with various duties including vehicle cleaning, fueling, minor repairs, and ensuring buses are maintained to a high standard. You will also be responsible for managing your own work, ensuring timeliness and quality, and performing routine administrative tasks as needed. These positions are available at the Toowong Depot and Willawong Depot. To be successful in this role you must: assist with cleaning and maintaining buses and depot vehicles operate depot vehicles and assist with parking and yard signalling perform basic vehicle inspections and minor repairs eg tyre change, supporting trade qualified team members handle fueling and oil checks for buses record fuel and oil quantities in system work closely with team members and follow established procedures communicate effectively with the team and maintain safety standards this role requires a HR License or ability to obtain one.
