About the role DroneShield is seeking a Senior Network Engineer with relevant experience to join the team in Sydney, NSW. The position will report to the Information Technology Manager. The IT team is responsible for providing excellent end user experiences and services for our staff. They deliver prompt technical support, troubleshoot issues, and ensure the smooth operation of hardware, software, and network systems to minimise disruptions. The team also manages system maintenance, internal applications and drive overall organisational productivity. The IT team must work closely with Engineering and Security teams to delight our Engineers while keeping a high level of security. This role will be a key position within the DroneShield Information Technology team. Primary responsibilities including contributing to our existing networking technology and processes to scale efficiencies with the high growth of the company. To do so the candidate will be able to easily create programmatic automations to scale processes. Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations Contribute to the design, development and implementation of complex network solutions ensuring security, scalability, and reliability. Manage and optimise network architecture in current environments Respond to operational issues and seek to constantly automate operations further Optimise network performance monitoring and diagnostics to ensure uptime and system efficiency Collaborate with other Engineering teams when required Maintain high quality technical documentation and network diagrams Qualifications, Experience and Skills At least 5 years’ network infrastructure experience working in a complex enterprise and/or datacenter networking position within high stakes environments. Deep expertise in routing and switching protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), VXLANs, firewalls, wireless, and VPN technologies Strong understanding of all TCP/IP layers Strong analytical, problem-solving, organisational, and communication skills IT architecture and cloud exposure with knowledge of emerging technologies and network security principles Strong understanding of fundamental Linux networking processes and standards Experience with high throughput networking (100s Gbps), parallelisation and synchronisation is advantageous Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment Experience with Network Monitoring Systems and performance management toolsets Strong awareness of good Information Security practices Note for recruitment agencies: We do not accept unsolicited candidates from external recruiters unless specifically instructed.
