Job Title: Linux System Administrator / Engineer Location: Melbourne Experience: 4–8 years Employment Type: Contract Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Linux System Administrator / Engineer with strong expertise in managing, optimizing, and maintaining Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments. The ideal candidate will have deep technical proficiency in performance tuning , configuration management , and infrastructure automation , along with practical exposure to large-scale, enterprise-level Linux deployments. Key Responsibilities Administer, configure, and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems across production and non-production environments. Perform performance tuning of operating systems, kernels, and server hardware to ensure optimal system performance and reliability. Manage and automate configuration management tasks using RedHat Satellite, Puppet, and Ansible . Support and maintain enterprise Linux technology solutions such as Centrify, NTP , and related services. Conduct day-to-day performance monitoring , troubleshooting, and incident management for Linux servers. Implement Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions leveraging tools such as Puppet and Ansible . Collaborate with cross-functional teams working on virtualization , networking devices , storage , and Microsoft Azure environments . Ensure system compliance with enterprise security, operational, and performance standards. Participate in on-call support rotation and handle system escalations as required. Required Skills & Experience 4–8 years of hands-on experience in Linux system administration (preferably Red Hat Enterprise Linux). Deep expertise in system and kernel performance tuning . Strong working knowledge of RedHat Satellite , Puppet , and Ansible for automation and configuration management. Experience with enterprise Linux environments integrating solutions like Centrify, NTP , and similar technologies. Practical understanding of virtualization platforms , networking fundamentals , storage systems , and cloud environments (Microsoft Azure preferred) . Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code principles and tools. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills. Preferred Qualifications Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or equivalent certification. Exposure to DevOps and cloud automation practices. Experience working in large-scale enterprise environments with hybrid infrastructure.
