We’re seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to provide maternity leave coverage for 18 months. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to take ownership of complex accounting areas — particularly those related to treasury activities, while also contributing to broader financial reporting responsibilities across the business. Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role plays a key part in ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of month-end and statutory reporting deliverables. You’ll be hands-on in preparing and reviewing accounting entries, reconciliations, and financial statement notes, while working closely with colleagues across Treasury, Tax, and FP&A. The role suits someone who thrives on challenge, enjoys working with technical accounting topics, and takes a proactive, forward-planning approach to their work. In this role, you will: Lead and perform month-end close activities for assigned portfolios and entities, including preparing and posting complex journals, and performing detailed balance sheet reconciliations. Prepare technical financial statement notes and supporting schedules for quarterly, half-year, and year-end financial reports. Liaise with internal stakeholders and external auditors to coordinate deliverables, resolve queries, and provide supporting documentation. Research and apply accounting standards requirements to your work, keeping up to date with the latest developments. Assist with reviewing and providing guidance on work prepared by more junior members of the team. Actively contribute to, and identify areas for, process improvement and greater efficiency within the team. About you You thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and enjoy working with complex accounting issues. You combine strong technical expertise with a hands-on approach, and you take pride in delivering high-quality work under time pressure. 5 years’ experience in financial accounting or external audit, with practical, hands-on experience preparing journals, reconciliations, and financial reporting deliverables. Strong technical understanding of Australian accounting standards and demonstrated ability to apply them in practice. Exposure to treasury or financial instruments accounting (e.g. debt, derivatives, hedge accounting) is highly regarded. CA/CPA qualified (essential). Advanced Excel and ERP system experience (Oracle or similar). Analytical and detail-oriented, with the ability to work independently and apply professional judgement. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, able to coordinate inputs across Treasury, FP&A, and Tax teams.
