The Client Iconic Projects for Adelaide Pty Ltd is a local Adelaide-based renovation and construction company built on trust, quality craftsmanship and outstanding results. They specialise in complete home and property transformations, including kitchen and bathroom upgrades, internal and external renovations, structural and aesthetic improvements, and bespoke finishing works. They are seeking an experienced Floor and Wall Tiler to join their team. The Role The successful applicant will be responsible for laying ceramic, clay, slate, marble, porcelain, and glass tiles on internal and external walls and floors to deliver high-quality finishes across residential renovation projects. This is a full time role with an annual salary set at $90,000 plus superannuation. The role is based in Adelaide in SA. The Responsibilities Some tasks may include Review detailed plans and specifications to understand the tiling project's requirements Measure and mark the surfaces to lay out the work accurately, ensuring that the tile arrangement will be as per the design and fit the space perfectly Examine plans, measure and mark surfaces, and lay out tiling work. Prepare walls and floors by removing existing tiles, grout, adhesive, and contaminants. Fill holes, cracks and ensure surfaces are clean, level and ready for installation. Apply waterproofing systems in accordance with industry standards. Spread adhesives on prepared surfaces and tiles and set tiles in correct position. Cut and shape tiles using hand and power tools to fit edges, corners, pipes, and fixtures. Ensure tiles are aligned accurately and spaced consistently. Apply grout, clean surfaces, and remove excess grout and residue. Lay specialty flooring such as terrazzo, granolithic or cement-based finishes if required. Install tile features including mosaics and patterned tile designs. Follow WHS requirements and maintain a clean and safe work environment. Liaise with clients and team members to ensure quality outcomes and job timelines are met Prepare wall and floor surfaces for tiling by removing any old tiles, grout, and adhesive Fill in any holes and cracks to ensure a smooth, clean base for the new tiles Spread adhesive evenly on prepared surfaces using the appropriate tools and techniques Place tiles on the adhesive-covered surfaces, carefully aligning them according to the layout plan Position the tiles correctly and ensuring they are level and evenly spaced Utilize tile-cutting tools to precisely cut and shape tiles as needed to fit edges, corners, and around obstacles like fittings and pipes, ensuring a professional finish Fill the spaces between tiles with grout, selecting the right colour and type of grout for the project Removing any excess grout from the tile surface without damaging the grout lines, to leave a clean, sharp finish Apply waterproofing systems where necessary, especially in wet areas like bathrooms and kitchens For certain projects, lay floors of granolithic, terrazzo, cement, or similar composition, requiring specific skills and knowledge of materials Lay coloured tiles in patterns to create intricate mosaics as per design specifications The Requirements: Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in wall and floor tiling At least 3 years of experience gained within a professional capacity Minimum of 3 years of proven experience with different types of tiles (ceramic, porcelain, stone, mosaic) and tiling techniques Minimum of 3 years experience in complex decorative tile finishing Minimum of 3 years of proven experience working with ceramic, clay, slate, marble, porcelain, and glass tiles on internal and external walls and floors Proficient in reading and interpreting architectural drawings and specifications. Skilled in the use of tiling tools and equipment, including tile cutters, trowels, and levelling devices. Knowledge of surface preparation techniques, adhesive and grout application, and the ability to perform intricate cuts and measurements. Understanding of waterproofing methods and materials. Familiarity with building codes and safety regulations related to tiling and construction work. Ability to work independently Have at least 2 contactable work referees
