Do work that matters: As Senior Manager Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) Risk, you will lead a small team supporting CommBank’s business banking customers, and the relationship executives that support them, through this transition. This is a high impact, high visibility and high accountability role. You will be working directly with senior stakeholders in distribution, product, Line 1 risk, Line 2 risk and Group E&S. You will have accountability for decisions that will shape BB’s longer-term approach to ESG risk management in a context that is rapidly evolving. You will need patience and tenacity as you support ESG risk capability uplift across the BB network and ongoing maturity in our control environment. You will enjoy intellectual stimulation but it’s essential you have the ability to apply a practical lens to theoretical concepts and ultimately ensure we are managing our ESG risk in an efficient and effective manner. See yourself in our team: This role sits within the CBA Business Banking ESG (Environmental Social & Governance) team, which is part of the Major Client Group (MCG) division. The team is accountable for designing frameworks and processes that support the management of ESG risk across BB Your responsibilities include: Lead the delivery of the BB E&S strategy risk initiatives. Establish and improve BB processes to better manage risk associated with E&S topics. Working closely with risk management and compliance teams across BB and Group to ensure relevant E&S risk frameworks are implemented in BB. Identify roadblocks or dependencies, which could impact specific work stream / projects and resolve as required. Take ownership of risk related outcomes and associated work streams/ projects end to end, and independently manage deliverables. Contribute to developing the internal E&S capabilities of BB staff through education and engagement. Contribute content and information to the CBA’s E&S related disclosures e.g. Climate Report and Modern Slavery & Human Trafficking Statement. Write and present formal papers for various Business Banking Risk Committees. Provide regular updates on E&S initiatives, portfolio risk reporting and outcomes of ESG risk assessments. Your experience looks like: Experience or expertise in sustainability, climate science and/or social impact within a Banking context. Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to navigate ambiguity and proactively drive change in dynamic environments Solid understanding of non-financial risk management e.g. experience working in a risk or product team. Excellent written communication skills that can be used in a variety of contexts e.g. writing high quality papers for risk committees, drafting guidelines for distribution teams, documenting decisions made with respect to ESG risk assessments. Ability to work autonomously, make sound decisions, use judgement to escalate when required, engage with a broad range of stakeholders in sometimes challenging conversations.
