The TSRA HR Team is responsible for supporting the TSRA's employees, enabling them to focus on delivering their Program objectives through seamless support. The HR Team provides sound advice on all areas of human resource management practice, and is growing beyond transactional relationships into offering strategic, end-to-end HR support to the organisation. The TSRA is a dynamic, multi-faceted workplace with staff undertaking work in a range of operating environments including: • office based (mainly Thursday Island) • office based /community engagement on inhabited Torres Strait Islands • community-based Ranger roles located on inhabited Torres Strait Islands where the work includes sea travel, manual labour and outside work in extreme conditions. The key duties of the position include Under the direction of the HR Manager, you will manage all aspects of WHS and wellbeing at TSRA through the development and implementation of integrated WHS and rehabilitation management systems. You will be responsible for both strategic and operational WHS activities, including: • Development, implementation, maintenance and monitoring of the WHS and rehabilitation management systems including supporting documents such as policies and procedures and consultative and reporting frameworks • Working proactively with TSRA managers and employees to identify hazards and existing controls, assess risk and determine the need for additional mitigation strategies • Working at the individual, team and organisational level to implement initiatives, tools and resources to proactively minimise workplace hazards and risks and prevent physical and psychological injury in the workplace • Monitoring and reporting on WHS and rehabilitation indicators and ensuring regulatory compliance in line with the WHS legislative framework • Providing strategic and operational WHS and wellbeing (including fitness for duty and return to work) advice to managers and employees and working with internal stakeholders to embed sound operational WHS practices • Developing and maintaining professional working relationships with other stakeholders including Comcare staff, rehabilitation case managers and our EAP provider. You will work within the HR Team to provide timely and consistent advice, based on the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 , the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1983 , TSRA policies, and APS guidance and standards. This will include growing and developing the WHS and rehabilitation skills and knowledge of other members of the HR Team.
