THE ROLE The Support Worker Services (SWS) team facilitates a range of National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) funded supports and services for people living with disabilities (i.e. participants). Working in conjunction with the SWS Manager and team, the Senior Support Worker will assist with ensuring a high standard of support is provided to participants. This position will provide additional oversight on high-needs or otherwise complex NDIS plans to ensure consistent, high-quality support services are provided to participants. This will also include identifying areas of improvement for service delivery and providing guidance to other Support Workers on how to enhance standards of care and support given to specific participants. This position will also be expected to provide direct disability support to participants in a Support Worker capacity as per a roster (while not acting as a Senior Support Worker). This will involve both centre-based and outreach functions in collaboration with a range of agency and community resources/services towards an integrated approach to support. Hours of Work The successful candidate is expected to be available to work a minimum of 22h 48m per fortnight (i.e. 1.5 days per week) in addition to their regular rostered hours as a Support Worker. These hours will be a combination of office-based (at either our Runcorn or Richlands office) and in the community. Additional hours may be required from time to time based on the needs of the team. REQUIREMENTS Qualifications & Training First Aid and CPR certificates NDIS Worker Orientation Module certificate of completion Skills, Knowledge & Experience Demonstrated experience working alongside people living with disabilities and their support networks in ways that improve their quality of life. Demonstrated understanding of the NDIS Practice Standards and an ability to apply these to day-to-day practices, as well as knowledge of the Disability Services Act, the National Disability Insurance Scheme Act and other relevant legislation. Demonstrated experience in the provision of person-centred, solution-focused disability support. Understanding of, and commitment to, the principles of social justice, as well as a demonstrated capacity to work in ways that focus on people’s strengths. Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, and a collaborative approach to service delivery including the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team towards progressive outcomes. A valid Queensland driver’s license and access to a safe, roadworthy vehicle. History Checks & Clearances The successful applicant will be required to apply for certain mandatory Personal and Criminal History Checks. This position is required to hold a satisfactory/positive result for the following: Blue Card (Working with Children Check) NDIS Worker Screening Note, it is an offence for a disqualified person to sign off on a Blue Card application form. Desirable Certificate III (or higher) in Individual Support or a relevant field. Experience working within the NDIS including knowledge of pricing arrangements and limits. Experience training, or providing guidance to, peers individually or as a group.
