The Opportunity This APS6 role offers the chance to apply and extend your procurement and program management expertise in a collegiate and high-profile environment. You will work alongside financial, procurement, legal, and scientific professionals, gaining exposure to complex government procurement processes, program oversight, and high-level stakeholder engagement. While the role’s core focus is on procurement and related activities, including contracts, finances, stakeholder relationships, and panels. This role is far more than just processing paperwork. Motivated individuals will have significant opportunities to develop new skills, provide input on strategic program outcomes, and contribute meaningfully to the Section’s work during the establishment of the CDC. The Role You will provide critical support to the Section, including: Procurement and Contract Management: Procuring program operators from initial approval to contract execution Drafting contracts and contract schedules, ensuring compliance with IP, licensing, specified personnel, Indigenous procurement, and other relevant considerations Liaising with internal financial, legal, procurement, and specialist advisers Monitoring deliverables, coordinating acceptance by delegates, arranging payments, and managing queries from program partners Preparing financial and procurement reports and ensuring compliance with Commonwealth Procurement Rules (CPRs), PGPA Act, and agency policies Managing contract variations, extensions, closures, and new contracts as circumstances dictate Program and Section Support: Assisting the Section Director and sub-section EL1 with budget deliberations, planning, and reporting for the program Drafting briefs, letters, minutes, and other correspondence related to various activities Coordinating procurement of program reviews, report writing, and outsourced editing/design work Drafting non-contract arrangements such as MoUs regarding data sharing, licensing, and research collaborations Liaising with other sections, portfolio agencies, and external stakeholders to inform procurement and program decisions Providing input on draft reports and documents prepared by or for the Section The Ideal Person The successful candidate will go beyond being just a procurement and program manager.
