Checkmate Loneliness — One Game at a Time! Think you’ve got all the right moves on the chessboard? Here’s your chance to prove it — and make someone’s day while you’re at it! We’re looking for a Spanish-speaking volunteer to share some friendly games (and maybe a few laughs) with a charming elderly gentleman living in a residential aged care home in Kirrawee. He’s a keen chess player who’s ready for a worthy opponent — and some good conversation in Spanish. All you need to bring is your love of the game, a bit of patience, and a friendly smile. So, if you’re ready to mix strategy with stories and turn a simple match into a meaningful connection, we’d love to have you join us! Your impact Volunteering as a social visitor can be a rewarding experience, both for the person you visit as well as yourself. Regular visits from volunteers can help to improve quality of life and help people feel less isolated.
