The Role As Energy Markets Analyst, you will conduct detailed analysis of wholesale energy markets, develop forecasting models, and provide strategic insights to support trading, commercial, and portfolio optimisation decisions. You'll work closely with trading, commercial, and risk teams to interpret market dynamics and identify commercial opportunities. Key Responsibilities Conduct detailed analysis of National Electricity Market operations including dispatch, pricing, demand patterns, and generator behaviour Develop and maintain electricity and gas price forecasting models incorporating fundamental drivers, market dynamics, and scenario analysis Analyse market trends, competitor behaviour, regulatory developments, and their impacts on wholesale market outcomes Provide analytical support to trading teams including pre-dispatch analysis, bidding strategy insights, and market opportunity identification Monitor and interpret real-time market conditions, constraint patterns, network dynamics, and operational factors affecting prices Develop reports, dashboards, and analytical tools to communicate market insights to trading and commercial stakeholders Conduct fundamental analysis of supply-demand balance, generation availability, fuel costs, and weather impacts on energy markets Support portfolio optimisation and hedging strategy through scenario modelling and risk-return analysis Analyse renewable energy integration, storage economics, and distributed energy impacts on wholesale market dynamics Research regulatory changes, market reforms, and policy developments affecting wholesale energy markets Build and maintain market databases, analytical tools, and automated reporting systems Collaborate with forecasting, trading, risk, and commercial teams to integrate market insights into business decisions Conduct post-event analysis of market outcomes, price volatility, and trading performance Prepare briefings and presentations for senior management on market conditions and strategic implications Support commercial transactions, generation investments, and contract negotiations with market analysis and due diligence Monitor gas markets, LNG dynamics, and gas-electricity linkages affecting energy market outcomes Your Background and Experience We are seeking candidates with strong analytical capabilities and energy market knowledge: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in energy markets analysis, trading support, forecasting, or market research within energy sectors Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or related analytical field;
