W e need a Production Designer who can bridge the gap between concept and construction, turning bold designs into reality with precision, efficiency, and flair. The Role We’re looking for a Production Designer who thrives in the fast-paced world of experiential builds, someone who can turn creative concepts into build-ready documentation and CNC programs for one-off custom structures. Click to know more about Expo Centric: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yKFWj_8e3Q Key Responsibilities Create accurate and detailed technical drawings for exhibition stands event structures, signage, and custom spatial components. Translate 3D design concepts into build-ready CAD documentation and fabrication packs. Prepare, optimise, and program CNC files (nesting, tool pathing , cutting) using CAM software. Collaborate with the 3D design team to ensure all design intent is achievable, cost-effective, and structurally sound. Liaise with production and installation teams to ensure smooth handover and flawless execution. Troubleshoot fabrication challenges and suggest smarter, faster ways to build. Maintain drawing standards, file organisation, and consistency across projects. Support innovation in sustainable materials, modular systems, and manufacturing efficiency. About You You’re from the world of spatial builds like events exhibitions, theatre, signage, shopfitting, or museums. You’ve translated creative ideas into practical construction drawings that real people build and walk through. You know the difference between design intent and build reality. You’ve stood in a workshop, solved on-the-fly problems with the team, and you understand the pace of live events. Skills & Experience 3–5 years’ experience in exhibition, event, signage, or museum/interior fitout production design. Strong proficiency in AutoCAD , Vectorworks , or SolidWorks . Skilled in CAM programming with software such as Fusion 360 , VCarve , or EnRoute . Understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and joinery construction methods. Experience preparing cutting lists, exploded views, and build documentation . Excellent problem-solving skills and obsessive attention to detail. Able to work under pressure and meet tight expo deadlines. Strong communication skills and can translate design intent into practical build solutions. Bonus Points For Experience with Aluvision , Octanorm , or modular exhibition systems. Knowledge of electrical layouts, lighting integration, or AV setups . Understanding of Australian safety and building standards . A passion for sustainable design and efficient production. This role is not suited for you if: You come from a mass manufacturing , industrial design , or product/tooling background. Your experience is focused on repetitive production rather than one-off custom builds . You haven’t worked in event , signage , museum , exhibition , or temporary structure construction environments. You’re unfamiliar with the pace , problem-solving , and hands-on collaboration in live event builds . You prefer working in isolated design roles without engaging directly with fabricators , installers , or production teams .
