About the role: The VPP Lead will lead the development and commercialisation of Hydro Tasmania’s C&I Virtual Power Plant product. This is an important role as this position will set the strategic direction of VPP within Hydro Group and manage the product to effectively scale. Your key responsibilities include: Leads the operations team, providing clear direction and decision making on key aspects of the product and its delivery. Sets the product roadmap for VPP and related DER products, including product functionality requirements and expected costs/benefits over the short and long-term horizons. Ownership of the strategic direction of the VPP and related DER products, including assets and industries to target. Working closely with the Customer Growth team in relevant technical discussions Builds partnerships internally within Hydro Group and externally and works collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives Leading the small team in delivering the product and its operations for our customers Takes on new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm. Making purposeful and well-informed choices to optimise wellbeing for self and others, role-modelling wellbeing as a priority, embedding reliable disciplines and influencing positive change in the system for others Support the growth of distributed energy resources under management (MW). Incubate new product ideas from idea to commercial launch through an agile go-to-market process. Scope, prioritise and implement continuous improvements to existing products and the customer experience. About you: Significant experience in product management or a similar role, ideally in the energy sector. Previous experience in energy services industry preferred, with a passion for innovation and renewables. Experience in leading others, providing direction and decision making to achieve the right outcomes. Demonstrated experience leading and delivering on a strategy. Demonstrated ability to influence and negotiate with managers at senior levels. Previous experience working as part of a product team and familiar with product management processes. Strong interpersonal communication skills (both in conversation and in writing) to ensure information is effectively communicated to key stakeholders. Able to use appropriate data to drive decision making. The ability to analyse problems and deliver innovative solutions. A willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues and external parties. The ability to identify opportunities within the surrounding environment and action initiatives in a timely manner.
