The Head of Activities plays a pivotal role in providing strategic and inspirational leadership across the College’s diverse co-curricular portfolio, which includes Sport, Outdoor Education, Extra-curricular Music, and Co-curricular Activities. As a key member of the Senior Executive Team, the Head of Activities will contribute to the design, development, and delivery of strategic initiatives that extend beyond the classroom and enrich the life of the College community. Role responsibilities The Head of Activities will provide strategic leadership and oversight of Sport, Outdoor Education, Extra-curricular Music, and Co-curricular Programs at Ormiston College. This role is responsible for shaping a renewed vision for these areas, ensuring programs are engaging, inclusive, and aligned with the College’s values of Growth, Belonging, and Excellence. Strategic Leadership – Lead and inspire program leaders, drive continuous improvement, and provide data-driven insights to enhance student experiences and outcomes. Child Safety & Compliance – Champion a culture of safety and wellbeing, ensuring policies, processes, and training meet all child safety standards. Program Development – Oversee Outdoor Education, Sport, Performing Arts, and Co-curricular activities, fostering participation, teamwork, and skill development across diverse programs. Collaboration & Community – Build strong relationships with staff, parents, and external partners, engaging with professional associations and Independent School networks. Innovation & Improvement – Monitor effectiveness of programs, encourage staff involvement, and introduce new opportunities to enrich the student experience. This is a senior leadership role, requiring exceptional communication, collaboration, and the ability to deliver a broad, inspiring activities program that complements academic learning and strengthens College culture. About you Hold relevant qualifications Proven leadership experience in sport, outdoor education, or co-curricular program management within a school or similar environment. A strong ability to think strategically while empowering others to deliver operational excellence. Deep commitment to student wellbeing and child safety, with a track record of creating inclusive, engaging, and safe learning environments. Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with the capacity to influence, inspire, and collaborate effectively across staff, students, parents, and external stakeholders.
