Work options: On-Site Security Clearance Required for this role: Must have a Current Nv1 security clearance. The role will be located in Canberra ACT offices. As a Data Observability Engineer , you’ll play a key role in designing, implementing, and optimising data observability and analytics capabilities that support Army experimentation, test & evaluation, and emerging technology initiatives. What you’ll do Design, build, and maintain data observability and analytics tooling to support mission-critical Defence systems. Develop and implement observability practices across DevSecOps and automation pipelines. Provide technical analysis, root cause identification, and performance optimisation for experimental systems. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate observability into future architectures and support live Army exercises. Deliver technical reports, post-activity assessments, and just-in-time training for ADF personnel. What you’ll bring Extensive experience in Data Observation and Analytics within complex environments. Strong Linux (Red Hat) expertise and scripting in Python, Bash, PowerShell . Hands-on experience with DevSecOps / CI-CD pipelines (preferably GitLab). Skills in API development, system integration, and virtualisation (KVM/VMware). Prior experience in Defence or Government projects (Desirable). Nice to have Certifications in Data Engineering or Observability tools (e.g., Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus). Qualifications in Data Engineering, Analytics, or IT . Exposure to Agile delivery, systems engineering, or Defence Test & Evaluation .
