About the Role This role presents a unique opportunity to grow and lead BDO ’ s real estate business in NSW connecting into a national team of real estate professionals. In line with the national growth agenda and strategy, BDO is continuin g to expand our national Project & Infrastructure Advisory (P&IA) team and is specifically seeking an exceptional leader for our Real Estate Advisory practice in NSW . Our P&IA team s deploy a unique multidisciplinary blend of capabilities that represent an end-to-end approach to supporting a project’s delivery. Our services include: Economic Advisory – BDO’s economic team members are multidisciplinary problem solvers, who work with clients to understand their needs and goals, to provide advice on economic and social research matters. We work with all levels of government, private companies, industry associations, research and development corporations, regional development boards and not-for-profit organisations. Project & Program Management – we enable the right decisions to be made at the right time and drive performance, not just compliance. We are specialists in establishing frameworks and processes for effective project and program management and running these in demanding and complex environments. Sports & Entertainment Projects and Infrastructure – our team combine passion and sector expertise to drive excellence across the dynamic worlds of sports, major events, tourism, arts, and culture. Waste & Environmental Infrastructure – our specialists can help you deliver circular economy outcomes with sector specific experience in providing advice to government and private sector clients. Real Estate Advisory – we understand property investment and the development process as well as the commercial and financial metrics associated with each element of the sector. We have specific expertise in the ‘Living Sector ’, including residential development, student accommodation, build-to-rent ( BtR ), social and affordable housing, and aged care/retirement, as well as in a range of traditional asset classes, including hotels and hospitality assets, industrial, commercial, and retail. Having successfully established Real Estate Advisory teams in QLD, VIC and WA , we are now looking for a Senior Professional to come in and help us build our Real Estate Advisory practice in NSW. This is a permanent position to be based in our brand-new Sydney office and will play a pivotal role in establish ing our practice and drive t he growth of BDO’s Real Estate Advisory services in NSW . This role will have the responsibility of lead ing , deliver ing and advis ing on significant projects within the Real Estate and Infrastructure space . As such i t is expected that you will have significant experience working across a diverse range of real estate and infrastructure projects nationally, with the ability to win and deliver property advisory engagements and transactions in a wide range of asset classes. Key responsibilities: Working with a dynamic group of Partners and supported by additional resources , your main responsibilities include the following: Leading or supporting business development activities including engaging with current and potential future clients, tracking potential engagement opportunities, and leading proposals . Collaborating across various BDO teams to deliver valuable advice and precise recommendations to our clients in relation valuations, development feasibilities, market research and strategic property advice, financial and commercial advice, lead advisory including acquisitions & disposals. Managing or d elivering a variety of projects (in line with the services highlighted above) in accordance with BDO’s methodologies and procedures. Collaborating with Partner s and senior management to assist with scheduling of work across the practice and Contributing to the development of junior staff in a mentoring capacity. Developing and maintaining relationships with clients (and the broader industry) and working with Partners in creating future business opportunities . Share awareness of the broader real estate market environment and industry trends across other divisions of the firm and our clients . Any other activities as required supporting the efficient management and function of the team . About You We are looking for a highly-motivated individual with extensive experience managing and delivering real estate projects across government and private sectors. You'll bring strong capability in delivering property valuations, real estate advisory, transactions and market research reports. A strong internal drive and growth mindset for ongoing business opportunities . A natural business development aptitude with evidence of e stablished network of clients across NSW, or Australia more broadly . Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (via reports, spreadsheets, presentations, emails, and in conversations), work in a multi-disciplinary team, manage engagements and deliverables . Demonstrated people leadership skills with a proven ability to develop a team . Strong working knowledge of p roperty acquisition and disposa l, property leases , major property transactions and the real estate market in NSW . Real estate market analysis, sales analysis and research . Navigating current planning schemes, understanding of property fundamentals and industry participants. A deep understanding of real estate related technical competencies and ability to interpret technical reports . Digital proficiency in commercial real estate platforms, such as Argus Estate Master, and financial modelling and analysis in excel .
