Why this role matters The Salvation Army (Salvos) is one of Australia’s largest providers of alcohol and other drug (AOD) programs including withdrawal management, residential and non-residential rehabilitation, and harm reduction programs. Salvos services go beyond addressing the core issues and challenges associated with problematic substance abuse and provide participants a place of hope, compassion, and dignity to recover safely. About the role As an AOD Support Worker, this is your opportunity to provide hands on support to individuals throughout their stay, helping them develop life skills, engage in treatment-focused activitie s and participate in social programs, while working collaboratively with a team to manage challenging behaviours and promote recovery. Reporting to the Support Work Supervisor, this is a Casual role, located in Bendigo, VIC . How you will make an impact Provide support to individuals including skill-building, facilitating group sessions, behaviour management and supervising outings / activities. Build strong relationships with participants, deliver appropriate interventions , and encourage engagement in therapeutic or community programs. Support daily activity planning, ensure attendance at program sessions and coordinate participant transport as needed. Maintain accurate records, participate in handovers, attend staff meetings and contribute to continuous program improvement. Respond to incidents, manage risks, support medication routines, follow TSA policies, and uphold safety protocols. What you will bring Certificate IV (or equivalent) in Community Services (Diploma preferred) Certificate IV (or equivalent) in the application of AOD interventions or the AOD Skill Set to work within the AOD Sector Relevant experience in a social service environment and AOD sector Experience working with vulnerable people from diverse backgrounds and with a complex range of support needs.
