About The Australian Fisheries Management Authority The Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA) aims to provide ecologically sustainable and economically efficient Commonwealth fisheries, through understanding and monitoring Australia’s marine living resources and regulating and monitoring commercial fishing, including domestic licensing and deterrence of illegal foreign fishing. The Opportunity This EL1 role presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to the strategic management and operational delivery of property and security functions for Australian Fisheries Management Authority. The position offers professional autonomy, scope for leadership, and the ability to shape outcomes in both facilities management and protective security across the organisation. You will work at the intersection of property services and physical security, ensuring the safety, functionality, and compliance of assets and facilities. You will be part of a supportive team with a strong focus on collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. The Role As the EL1 Manager – Property and Security, you will oversee a dual portfolio responsible for both the operational delivery and strategic direction of the department’s property and security services. You will: Manage the delivery of facilities and accommodation services Lead the coordination and implementation of AFMSA’s protective security measures, including managing clearances and relationships with external providers (AGSVA etc.) Provide advice and assurance on physical and personnel security risk management, including access control, incident management, and emergency preparedness Lead minor works projects, accommodation planning, and maintenance activities across a geographically dispersed property portfolio Prepare reports, briefings, business cases, and procurement documentation for senior leadership and external stakeholders Lead procurement, contract management, and budget planning activities relevant to both property and security services The Ideal Person The successful candidate will bring experience in a similar role within the Commonwealth, or equivalent and excellent knowledge of government accommodation guidelines and the Whole-of-Government Property Servies Provider model. You will have: Demonstrated experience in managing corporate property services and/or physical security operations within a government or large-scale organisation A solid understanding of the PSPF, facility security requirements, and relevant property and WHS legislation Proven capability to manage vendors, deliver complex services, and oversee performance under contractual arrangements Strong stakeholder engagement skills with a collaborative approach to problem-solving Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and advise senior stakeholders In addition, you’ll also need: Minimum of an NV1 security clearance To travel bi-annually to other sites Qualifications in property, facilities management, security, risk management or a related discipline are also highly desirable Salary / Rate $123k - $137k 15.4% Super s26 transfer preferred, or 12-month non-ongoing contract with view to permanency WFH available (1 day per week) Canberra-based role – Majura Park Bi-annual travel How to Apply To apply online, please click on the appropriate link.
