Initial 3 month role Based on Brisbane's northside Our local government client is seeking an experienced Principal Internal Auditor to plan, execute, and report on internal audit engagements with a focus on project governance and delivery. Key responsibilities: Assess project management practices, including planning, execution, monitoring, and closure. Evaluate compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and contractual obligations. Provide recommendations to improve project controls, risk mitigation, and value for money. Collaborate with project teams, PMOs, and senior stakeholders to ensure audit findings are actionable. Monitor the implementation of audit recommendations and report progress to management. Support the development of the annual audit plan with a focus on high-risk projects and programs.
