Skilled Trades Assistant – Aviation Fuel Tanker Assembly Location: Sunshine West, Melbourne, VIC Hourly Rate: $42.50 Super Overtime Travel Allowance: $27/day Payment Frequency: Weekly About Us We are a well-established Australian manufacturer specialising in aviation fuel tanks and trailers. We pride ourselves on quality, safety, and innovation, and we’re expanding our workshop team in the western suburbs of Melbourne. Role Overview: You will support the assembly and installation of aviation fuel tanker equipment. This includes working with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems, fitting components, and assisting tradespeople across the build process. Key Responsibilities Assist with installing electrical components and pump systems Fit and work with hydraulic and pneumatic parts Support different stages of the build—from subassemblies to final fit-off Operate hand and power tools safely and properly Collaborate with tradespeople (Mechanical Fitters, Boilermakers) Perform quality checks and maintain high standards of workmanship Requirements Prior experience as a Trades Assistant or in a mechanical/fitting role Familiarity with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision Good attention to detail and strong work ethic Comfortable using power tools and hand tools Understanding of OHS (Occupational Health & Safety) practices Desirable (But Not Essential) Experience supporting Mechanical Fitters or Boilermakers Ability to plan work, prioritise tasks, and work with minimal supervision Mechanical aptitude or trade background Basic reading of technical drawings or wiring diagrams What You’ll Bring Two referees from past employment Based in Melbourne, VIC (or willing to relocate) Right to work in Australia What We Offer Competitive hourly rate superannuation overtime Travel/day allowance Weekly pay Opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a niche manufacturing environment A collaborative team and a safety-focused workplace Please note that only successful applicants will be contacted.
