The key duties of the position include: The Role The Scientific Computing (SC) branch enables and accelerates Defence science and technology research and protects assets in DSTG’s digital research environments. SC does this by provisioning and supporting scientific computing infrastructure that is well managed, sustainable and scalable; continuing to invest in innovative centralised digital research infrastructure and services, while divesting commodity distributed ICT infrastructure and services; and developing new Scientific Computing practices and technologies. As the Research Service Management Service Operations Specialist, you will lead a team, which ensures a high-level of integration, continuity and consistency of services in support of the Defence Digital Sciences research capability. Specifically relating to effective and efficient research ICT Service Operations, continuous improvement and process and workflow automation using a range of service management frameworks, applications and practices. You will use your expertise to maintain and evolve these to meet rapid demand and change as the organisation’s demand changes. You will lead a team, which ensure Digital Science services are accessible, efficient and effective in enabling researchers to use the complex computing capabilities provided for Defence scientific research. About our Team You work closely with a peer who is responsible for Service Delivery and will lead a team of specialists who have expertise in ICT Service Management practices such as ITIL, IT4IT, Agile Service Management, COBIT and DevOps. Together you will deliver and operate the provision of scientific ICT services developed and customised to enable scientists and researchers to get on with their job with digital science ICT being the indispensable means of achieving their outcomes.
