We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Event Manager to work in-house at a professional membership-based organisation, located in Sydney’s CBD. Working in conjunction with the Venue & Events Manager (Head of Events), you will be responsible for leading the in-house event team in delivering a range of high-quality live and virtual events, meetings and conferences. The role: Our client is an established and well-regarded professional membership-based organisation, with a busy calendar of events- across a wide range of formats, including networking breakfasts and lunches, evening and full day seminars, webinars, forums, panels, conferences, and other flagship events including gala dinners. The purpose of the Deputy Events Manager is to support the strategic planning, delivery, and continuous improvement of the annual calendar of internal and external events. Acting as the lead in the absence of the Venue and Events Manager, overseeing and mentoring the events team, hands on event execution, as well as managing the annual events budget. Ensure operational excellence via implementing best-practice systems and processes of event management, promoting efficiency while improving the overall standard of events across the organisation. Working collaboratively with key internal stakeholders and clients to organise and execute a range of events, conferences and meetings Support the Venue and Events Manager in the overall coordination of all event briefs, timelines, event workflow, reporting, deadlines and debriefs Assist with managing a team of 4 direct reports, mentoring and supporting them to achieve both professional success and development Support the supervision, training, and delegation of tasks to the events team, contractors, and volunteers Lead end-to-end event delivery for specified projects, including planning, logistics, vendor coordination, budgeting, stakeholder management and onsite execution Assist with preparing an accurate and comprehensive annual calendar of events and budget that details recurring events as well as ad hoc / special events for all business units Develop good working relationships with external venues and key suppliers, negotiating financially sound and effective contracts/agreements, and administer the payments of suppliers within approved guidelines Ensure accurate and regular reporting of events information such as budget and associated costs, event attendance, and overall event success to key stakeholders etc Excellent stakeholder management, fostering good communications and relationships between requisite departments to ensure overall aims of the relevant function goals are achieved Candidate profile: You will have a minimum of 6 years’ experience in organising, planning and executing corporate events and conferences within a corporate / professional environment Event Management degree or relevant tertiary qualification is highly regarded as is event agency experience Previous experience with managing an annual events budget and calendar Previous experience managing/mentoring staff (min 1-2 direct reports) Proven experience in negotiating with external and internal clients and effective stakeholder management Demonstrated experience in working to tight deadlines with competing priorities A proactive, positive and flexible attitude Strong customer service mindset and professional presentation Experienced in Microsoft Office Suite, and event management software Cvent is highly desirable Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to work with and command the respect of management and staff Excellent written and verbal communications skills Excellent administrative and time management skills, with high attention to detail Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a larger team with multiple key stakeholders Salary & benefits: $125K plus super Collaborative and friendly team culture 35 hour work week with 2 days WFH policy Professional training and development focus THE MONDAY GROUP is a specialist recruitment agency and executive search firm for the events, experiential marketing, hotel & hospitality industries.
