Wh at we are looking for: This is an exciting opportunity to step into a leadership role that sits at the intersection of finance, infrastructure and community growth . As Council’s Accountant for Development and Infrastructure Agreements , you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring the correct recognition of revenue, assets, liabilities and expenses linked to trunk infrastructure projects. In this role you will: Strengthen governance, transparency and accountability across infrastructure agreements. Ensure accurate financial recognition of infrastructure charges, offsets, assets and liabilities. Provide expert financial advice during infrastructure agreement negotiations. Collaborate with Development, Engineering and Asset Management teams to ensure accurate asset classification and valuation. Lead continuous improvement of accounting processes, tools and systems. What you’ll need for success: Tertiary qualifications (Bachelor Degree or above) in accounting or business studies and/or demonstrated practical experience commensurate with the position requirements. Experience in complex financial accounting and reporting, ideally in government or infrastructure sectors. Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards relevant to asset recognition and revenue recognition. Strong understanding of the Planning Act 2016, Local Government Act 2009, and infrastructure charge frameworks. Ability to develop financial systems, registers, and processes that improve transparency and accountability. High-level analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret and apply legislation and policy to financial transactions. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to advise senior stakeholders. Effective time management skills, including but not limited to, working independently, setting priorities, setting and meeting deadlines and organising own workloads. Class C Driver's licence What’s nice to have: CPA Membership or other accounting professional membership Experience in Local Government in infrastructure accounting or developer contributions.
