Salvos Stores is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead a skilled team of machine operators and volunteers at Australia’s first automated textile recycling facility . Located in Carole Park , this state-of-the-art plant is the cornerstone of Project Boomerang , a pioneering initiative aimed at transforming textile waste into valuable resources through cutting-edge technology. ABOUT THE ROLE : In this varied role, you will oversee production to ensure efficient and safe operations, aligning production schedules and managing inventory for optimal turnover. Role R esponsibilitie s : Product and Process Engineering : Implementing and refining processes to enhance efficiency and quality. Sales and Operational Planning : Collaborating with the Business Development Manager to forecast demand and align operations with market trends. Shop Floor Production : Managing daily operations, ensuring smooth workflows, and maintaining high safety standards. Hands-on Equipment Operation : Utilizing specialized machinery to process textiles effectively. Equipment Operation and Maintenance : Overseeing the operation and upkeep of machinery to ensure continuous functionality. Facility Management : Ensuring the facility operates smoothly and integrates seamlessly with other systems. Software Applications : Utilizing software tools to monitor and manage operations efficiently. ABOUT YOU : Essential Skills: Proven experience in operations leadership with a strong technical background in mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems. A safety-first mindset with a demonstrated ability to lead teams and optimize processes. Proficiency in IT systems and applications relevant to operations management. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships. Desirable Skills: Understanding of textile recycling processes and circular economy principles. Knowledge of textile fibre composition. Tertiary qualifications in Manufacturing, Engineering, or Operations, or relevant trade qualifications. Bachelor's degree in IT or equivalent experience. Forklift licence.
