Walcha Council is Seeking an Urban Construction Operator. This position forms part of the Infrastructure and Development directorate, Urban team and contributes to providing well maintained Council facilities, assets and improvement programmes, creating a safe and efficient environment within the Walcha Local Government area. The successful applicant will undertake a variety of laboring duties as instructed across local roads, bridges, stormwater drainage, parks, sporting fields, footpaths, cemeteries, waste disposal, Council Facilities etc. They will also undertake training as required and operate hand tools, small plant equipment, as well as further training in the operation of larger plant and equipment. The areas below outline the key functions and tasks required of this position. Task may be modified from time to time to ensure that Council’s Operational, Delivery and Community Strategic Plan requirements are being met. Employees may be required to undertake other relevant duties as directed which are consistent with the employee’s skill, competence and training level. Carrying out laboring duties as directed by supervisors Use hand tools and operate small plant items on Council worksites Carry out council prescribed, and manufacturer required checks, serving and maintenance of plant and equipment Operate plant and equipment safely, legally, efficiently and competently Ensure appropriate use of all safety equipment, including PPE, signs, lights, barrier bollards and other traffic management equipment Read, understand and apply traffic control plans and competently operate communication equipment in an appropriate manner Complete standard forms including Timesheets, Safety System forms, plant maintenance records etc. Comply with instructions by Works Supervisor Provide timely and accurate reports to the Works Supervisor regarding faults, operational characteristics, performance or plant and equipment Required Qualifications: Class C Drivers License WHS General Construction Induction STS RMS Workers on Foot SafeWork NSW Work Health & Safety Traffic Control (IMP & TC) Council Internal Workshops as required e.g. WHS Safe Systems of Work, Inductions etc. Willingness to participate in an On-Call Roster if required. What we offer The position Urban Construction Operator is a Permanant Full Time role, falling under the Local Government (State) Award 2023 Band 1 Level 3 Grade 2 Step 1 at $28.2974 per hour, $1075.30 gross per week, you will also enjoy an RDO every fortnight.
