Position Overview The Supply and Distribution Manager will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end supply chain, including procurement, inventory management, logistics, and distribution across Pure Desi’s retail stores, wholesale channels, and franchise partners. This role requires strategic planning to ensure efficient product availability, timely deliveries, and compliance with Australian food safety and quality standards. The role is crucial for supporting Pure Desi’s business expansion, streamlining distribution processes, and ensuring sustainable growth in a competitive food retail market. Key Responsibilities Plan, direct, and coordinate Pure Desi’s overall supply, storage, and distribution operations to ensure seamless delivery of Indian sweets, meals, and snacks across retail stores, online sales, wholesale outlets, and franchise partners in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane. Formulate and implement supply chain policies, procedures, and strategies to optimize efficiency, reduce costs, and maintain the authenticity and freshness of products. Oversee the procurement of raw materials and ingredients from approved suppliers, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, timely supply, and compliance with Australian food safety standards. Liaise and coordinate with international suppliers, particularly in India and China, to ensure consistent quality and timely supply of raw materials. Undertake occasional overseas travel to supplier locations to inspect raw materials, negotiate supply terms, and ensure compliance with Pure Desi’s quality standards. Manage warehousing, inventory, and stock control systems to minimize waste, safeguard perishable products, and ensure continuous availability of high-demand items such as Motichoor Ladoo, Gulab Jamun, and Barfi. Direct and monitor distribution logistics, including transport scheduling and delivery planning, to achieve timely and efficient product movement between production units, warehouses, and sales outlets. Negotiate, establish, and maintain contracts with suppliers, distributors, and logistics providers to secure favorable terms and reliable partnerships. Analyze supply chain and distribution performance metrics, prepare reports, and implement process improvements to support Pure Desi’s growth and service excellence. Ensure full compliance with workplace health and safety legislation, food handling regulations, and quality control standards throughout the supply and distribution process. Recruit, train, and supervise staff involved in warehousing, stock management, and logistics to build an efficient and accountable supply chain team. Collaborate with sales, marketing, and franchise development teams to forecast product demand, align distribution schedules, and meet customer expectations across diverse sales channels. Contribute to strategic decision-making regarding expansion of Pure Desi’s retail, wholesale, and franchise networks by ensuring scalable and efficient supply chain operations. Develop contingency strategies for addressing supply chain risks such as ingredient shortages, transport delays, or equipment breakdowns to safeguard business continuity. Required Qualifications & Experience Post Graduate Diploma / Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum 2 to 3 years of progressive experience in supply chain, logistics, procurement, or distribution management, preferably within large-scale or multinational organisations. Demonstrated expertise in demand forecasting, order fulfilment, vendor management, and international logistics. Strong background in managing procurement, inventory control, warehousing, and distribution operations. Proven track record of supplier management, contract negotiation, and cost optimization. Experience with inventory management systems and demand forecasting tools. Understanding of Australian food safety standards and regulatory compliance. Prior experience in overseas sourcing, supplier negotiations, or international procurement is highly desirable. Required Skills and Competencies Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to recruit, supervise, and develop teams across warehousing, logistics, and distribution functions. Expertise in designing and implementing supply chain strategies that optimize efficiency, reduce costs, and maintain product quality and freshness. Proven ability to streamline order-to-delivery cycles and enhance distribution processes in food or FMCG environments. Strong commercial and analytical acumen with experience in demand forecasting, KPI monitoring, and performance reporting. Excellent negotiation and communication skills for managing relationships with suppliers, logistics partners, and internal stakeholders. Proficiency in supply chain management systems, ERP platforms (e.g., SAP), and Microsoft Office Suite. Advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge for data analysis, reporting, and supply chain forecasting. Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, multicultural business environment while ensuring compliance with Australian food safety and workplace regulations.
