The Department of the House of Representatives is seeking applications from those interested in directly supporting the work of the House of Representatives and members of Parliament at Parliament House in Canberra. The role is situated within Systems and Innovation Section of the Information Management Office of The Department. The Systems and Innovation section, within the Information Management Office (IMO), supports and enables the work of the House of Representatives by ensuring that that the business requirements and goals of the House of Representatives and department are represented in parliamentary ICT projects, applications, and infrastructure. The section works closely with the department's IT service provider, the Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS), which owns and manages many of the business-critical systems that support the Parliament's operations. The Systems and Innovation team plays a key customer-side role in the relationship with DPS, both in the support and enhancement of existing systems, and in the development of new systems. DPS is currently leading a large-scale Parliamentary Application Modernisation (PAM) program. The Systems and Innovation section represents the department in the upgrade and replacement of the systems and is dedicated to ensuring that they meet the needs of the department, the House, and the Parliament. The section also includes a small team responsible for developing the department's own software solutions, which complement the existing systems provided by DPS. About the role Reporting to the Assistant Director, Digital Business Solutions, you will work with key stakeholders to support the successful delivery of ICT projects. You will use your project management, liaison and relationship management skills to act as the conduit between the department's business areas and our ICT provider, the Information Services Division within DPS. You will have, or will be able to quickly acquire, a strong understanding of the work of the House of Representatives and the department so that you can advocate effectively for the department's business needs. You will manage your workload and priorities across multiple concurrent projects. The key duties of the position include The Project Officer is responsible for 1. Liaise with internal business areas, DPS, other parliamentary departments and external agencies on shared ICT projects. 2. Carry out project management activities for the department's existing and future business systems, including: working with business analysts to gather and refine business requirements. assisting with procurement activities under the direction of the Assistant Director, Digital Business Solutions. managing projects and technical resources by applying Scrum principles and Agile project methodologies. coordinating user acceptance testing. assisting with change management activities, including the development of communications, support, training and documentation. preparing regular project reports for the department's senior Executive. 3. Provide advice and support to the department on business systems and information resources. 4. Other project management and business information system tasks as required.
