Job Title: Solutions Architect – Directory & Identity Contract Type: Initial 6-month contract with strong potential for extension Location: Brisbane CBD | Hybrid – 50% Work from Home, 50% In-Office Summary Our client is one of the fastest-growing and most complex government agencies in Queensland. The Solutions Architect - Directory & Identity will operate across the Digital Marketplace portfolio, spanning on-premise and cloud services. They host managed servers, SQL, and Active Directory environments on a VMware-based private cloud, while also delivering Microsoft Entra ID, Azure tenant services, billing, and Azure Virtual Desktops (AVDs). This role ensures architectural cohesion across these domains, providing solution designs that integrate directory, identity, and tenant services across both private cloud and Microsoft cloud environments. By working with the internal Architecture and Innovation team, and Modern Workplace, Azure, and Microsoft Services teams, this role will define current state, transitional states, and end-state models that support the internal operations and the needs resulting from recent Machinery of Government changes. Through technology program implementation, the role will be responsible for maintaining alignment with and validating against the approved design, ensuring delivery remains consistent with program objectives. Key responsibilities Provide leadership and direction in the design and management of directory, identity, tenant and application integration solutions, including risk and issue identification and management. Analyse business requirements and system specifications, providing strategic expertise to staff and management to ensure specifications are aligned to business and program objectives. Analyse and solve complex system and technological problems across Active Directory, Entra ID, VMware private cloud, Azure and applications portfolio to provide innovative solutions that meet program objectives within agreed timeframes. Complete system architecture and design specifications, including Active Directory, tenant structures, application integration points, and associated documentation, in compliance with the organisation’s standards and government frameworks. Consult with and provide expert advice to business owners in relation to ongoing enhancement and development of the organisation’s corporate system applications and services. Provide expert advice and support in the completion of quality reviews of deliverables. Provide expert advice on changes to solution design to ensure the system remains fit for purpose, secure, and aligned with approved design baselines, including application/data integration needs. Liaise, consult, and negotiate effectively with team members, other project teams, stakeholders, business application owners and customer groups to maintain the integrity of the overall solution and ensure successful MoG outcomes. Maintain oversight during implementation phases, ensuring alignment with and validation against the approved design. Main Requirements Demonstrate experience in an enterprise environment. An expert level of knowledge and experience is expected to be achieved in the role. Microsoft certifications (eg., Microsoft Certified: Identity & Access Administrator, Solutions Architect Expert, Entra/Azure certifications) highly regarded. Minimum 7 years experience in Active Directory & identity architecture. Proven experience designing and delivering large-scale AD and Entra ID (Azure AD) solutions in complex enterprise/government environments. Strong knowledge of forests, domains, trusts, replication, OU & GPO design, DNS, PKI, AD FS, & Entra Connect. Demonstrated experience in tenant separation, merger, or uplift projects, including cross-tenant collaboration and application integration considerations. Proven ability to assess and incorporate application dependencies (authentication, authorisation, service accounts, SQL, line-of-business applications) into directory and identity designs. Ability to produce architectural diagrams, solution designs, and technical documentation to professional standards. Experience in transitional architecture ie. modelling current, interim, & target states with clear decision gates. Understanding of Queensland Government (or Australian Government) ICT standards, cyber frameworks, and governance requirements is desirable. Why apply with Hudson Recruitment?
