A new opportunity has arisen for an engaging employment lawyer to join the organisation’s welcoming and collaborative in-house legal team in Melbourne’s CBD. This position will take the lead in navigating the complexities of employment law matters impacting a large organisation. The position reports to the Head of Legal and provides plenty of cross functional senior stakeholder engagement and interaction, as well as management responsibility for a Legal Counsel. The successful candidate will be a commercially focussed lawyer with a minimum of 7 years’ PQE from a well-regarded commercial practice or in-house environment, together with substantial experience in workplace relations law Key responsibilities Provide a service-focused, proactive point of contact for internal clients and external parties Provide expert legal and strategic advice on employment matters and disputes, including: Serious misconduct Employment grievances and disciplinary actions Discrimination, harassment, and bullying claims Appeals and administrative reviews Safety matters Related litigious and regulatory matters This is your chance to make a real impact in the education sector.
