Senior Data Analyst The Closing the Gap Priority Reform 4 (PR4) Program, within NSW Department of Customer Service (DCS), is currently looking for a Senior Data Analyst to join their team! About Us Between 2025-28 the Department of Customer Service (DCS) will work in partnership with Aboriginal Affairs (AANSW) and the NSW Coalition of Aboriginal Peak Organisations (NSW CAPO) to deliver the Closing the Gap (CtG) Priority Reform 4 (PR4) implementation actions and Aboriginal Data Sovereignty and Governance (ADS&G) reform development work program (PR4 Program). DCS will work with all NSW government agencies on key implementation actions on behalf of the partnership, to improve shared access to and shared decision-making regarding NSW Government-held data for Aboriginal communities. Understand more about the Department of Customer Service – Here Primary purpose of the role: The Senior Data Analyst is a key member of the Data Products and Digital Strategy team, responsible for supporting the design, evaluation, and implementation of data and digital tools. These tools span advanced statistical privacy methods, data engineering, geospatial analysis, and business intelligence reporting. This role provides expert advice to inform decision-making across a wide range of stakeholders. It also includes delivering regular reports, insights, and presentations to support executive meetings, performance monitoring, evaluations, and partnership engagements. The role has no direct reports. The Senior Data Analyst will contribute to the delivery of the NSW PR4 in ways that align with Aboriginal communities’ needs and priorities to achieve NSW Government commitments of the National Agreement on Closing the Gap. Your responsibilities will include: Assessing the suitability of current and emerging privacy related statistical techniques and technologies, particularly differential privacy, to inform decision making and implementation of statistical disclosure control for small populations Conducting analyses for program monitoring and evaluation, the development of sample data, geospatial analysis, and routine program reporting Developing engaging visual communication of meaningful insights and presentations for diverse audiences, including executives and stakeholder committees Contributing to the development and implementation of enterprise data engineering best practices, including data modeling and pipelines to support analytical use cases, through the development of proof-of-concept solutions About you: Proven experience with modern analytical tools, environments, and languages, for example Python, R, SQL, JSON, APIs, containers, and cloud services such as AWS or Azure. Demonstrated experience applying a broad range of statistical methods Data engineering experience, including modeling for data warehousing, ETL/ELT processes in enterprise environments, or proficiency in working with large-scale databases. Experience with differential privacy or statistical disclosure control techniques, or a willingness to learn. Familiarity with geospatial analysis is preferred. We value diverse experiences.
