The Opportunity HorizonOne is seeking Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) Specialists and Cyber Security Architects for multiple long-term roles supporting the Commonwealth’s cyber security uplift initiatives. The roles potentially offer high visibility and the chance to work on complex, secure environments where your expertise directly contributes to national defence and digital trust. The Role As a GRC Specialist, you’ll ensure the agency maintains strong governance and compliance with Australian Government security standards. You will: Embed risk management and compliance practices across ICT and business areas Implement and monitor ISM, PSPF, and Essential Eight controls Develop and maintain security frameworks, risk registers, and assurance reports Support internal and external audits, IRAP assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives Advise executives and delivery teams on security obligations and governance maturity As a Cyber Security Architect, you’ll design secure, scalable solutions that align with enterprise architecture, operational requirements, and government frameworks. You will: Develop and maintain enterprise and solution security architectures for critical systems Ensure alignment with ISM, PSPF, Essential Eight, and agency security policies Provide architectural oversight across projects, infrastructure, and cloud environments Conduct threat modelling, risk assessments, and security design reviews Collaborate with architects, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure secure-by-design delivery The Ideal Person You’re a senior cyber professional with strong technical and governance knowledge, comfortable working in complex, high-assurance Federal Government environments. You’ll bring: Australian Citizenship with NV1 (minimum) security clearance. NV2 highly regarded At least 5 years’ experience in cyber security roles within Federal Government Expertise in either governance, risk, and compliance (ISM, PSPF, Essential Eight), or security architecture, design, and assurance for enterprise or cloud systems Strong stakeholder engagement, documentation, and advisory skills A collaborative, proactive approach and ability to manage competing priorities Bonus if you have: Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, SABSA, or AWS/Azure Security Architect Experience across hybrid cloud (Azure, AWS) and secure network environments Exposure to complex transformation or cyber uplift programs Salary / Rate $130/hr – $175/hr including 12% Superannuation This is an expression of interest for upcoming cyber roles within major government programs How to Apply To apply online, please click the appropriate link.
