LI-Hybrid The Opportunity The General Counsel leads a small team of lawyers to advise on a range of corporate and commercial law arrangements, including technology contracts, sales opportunities, and corporate & commercial work to support our four business units. The General Counsel also works closely with the CEO and CFO on general company initiatives such as strategy, structure, and funding. What you'll be doing Provide practical and pragmatic corporate, commercial, and technology law advice Manage Macquarie Technology Group's insurance portfolio Manage Macquarie Technology Group's leasing arrangements from a legal perspective Provide support to the People & Culture team on IR / ER issues as required Negotiate major deals in conjunction with Sales or Line of Business personnel Manage all litigation for the company and pre-litigation advice Assist relevant commercial personnel with the preparation of responses to customer tenders, with particular emphasis on reviewing and preparing legal response to any proposed terms and conditions (including Federal Government tenders) Train Sales and Account Management personnel on legal risks such as Australian Consumer Law and Privacy Supervise the senior legal professionals in business as usual and project work Lead and manage the legal team through regular 1:1’s, coaching, and performance development conversations Ideal skills & experience Qualified lawyer admitted to practice in NSW (circa 10 years PQE) Experience as either a General Counsel looking to broaden their experience, Senior in-house Lawyer in a fast-paced environment, or a commercially focused Senior Associate from a highly regarded law firm Experience in an in-house ICT or sales-focused environment is highly desirable Ability to take ownership of multiple responsibilities including Company Secretary duties Why us?
