This role supports the Group Claims team by guiding claims teams, providing expert advice on complex claims, upholding policy adherence and product knowledge, upskilling new starters, and overseeing decisions. The role emphasizes building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including claims assessors, reinsurers, and partners. Regular involvement includes data integrity for regulatory reporting, review of audit results, ad-hoc interactions with Legal, and continuous improvement projects. Regular Delegated Authority reviews for individual claim consultants and participation in continuous improvement initiatives are integral to this position. Important to your success – let’s grow together Responsibilities Act as a technical expert guiding claims teams to ensure best practices and high standards that drive customer satisfaction. Provide expert advice on complex claims, policy adherence, and product knowledge. Upskill new starters and oversee decisions with strong stakeholder engagement. Drive claim duration initiatives through proactive file reviews and review audit results on behalf of the business. Ensure data integrity for regulatory reporting and facilitate ad-hoc referrals to Legal as required. Participate in ongoing continuous improvement projects and lead regular Delegated Authority reviews for individual claim consultants. Qualifications Extensive experience in Group Life Insurance claims, particularly in a technical or senior assessing role. Deep understanding of technical claims matters, including non-disclosure, Life Code obligations, relevant case law, and handling complaints. Proven ability to coach, mentor, and support the development of team members. Strong communication skills with the ability to explain decisions clearly and empathetically to customers, colleagues, and stakeholders. Commitment to staying updated on industry changes and sharing best practices to enhance team performance. Ability to build and maintain robust relationships with internal teams, reinsurers, legal advisors, and external partners.
