The Aboriginal Liaison Officer supports the Parliament of NSW to build and maintain strong relationships with Aboriginal people and communities. The role develops and implements policies, programs, events, and resources that promote meaningful engagement, cultural understanding, and respectful practices. Working closely with the Senior Aboriginal Liaison Officer, the role provides advice on cultural matters. The Aboriginal Liaison Officer also provides support to parliamentary committees by offering valuable insights and guidance on matters related to Aboriginal engagement, protocols, identifies opportunities to strengthen connections, and supports parliamentary committees with guidance on community engagement.
