About The Opportunity We’re seeking a Technical Officer to join our Civil Branch within the Infrastructure Operations and Delivery directorate, based at the Kalkie Depot . This role supports the delivery of Council’s civil construction and maintenance programs by providing technical and administrative assistance to the Civil Branch. You’ll help ensure projects and maintenance activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and to required standards by assisting with project management, traffic management, quality assurance, and workplace health and safety systems. The position also involves inspection and recording of transport asset conditions, use of works management systems, and the administration of civil works projects. Key responsibilities include: Providing on-site support to Civil crews to ensure works comply with Council and industry standards. Inspecting, recording, and reporting on quality assurance requirements and customer requests. Assisting with planning, development, monitoring, and management of civil projects. Supporting pre-construction activities such as estimate and design reviews, utility locations, environmental assessments, and stakeholder liaison. Assisting with procurement activities and requests for quotations. Undertaking inventory and condition rating for transport assets, including condition assessment and data logging. Scheduling and prioritising works using Council’s works management systems. Providing technical and administrative assistance to operational staff with CRM workflows. Assisting with after-hours or emergency work as required. About You To be successful in this role, you will have: Knowledge and experience in civil works construction and maintenance. An unrestricted Class C Driver Licence. Sound computer literacy, including Microsoft Office, Windows, and technical software systems. Effective interpersonal and written communication skills for working with internal and external stakeholders. Strong teamwork skills and the ability to support other team members. Knowledge of work practices, policies, and procedures including Work Health and Safety, Environmental Management, Quality Management, and Traffic Management. Experience using works management systems for transport assets, including prioritisation and scheduling of works. Experience in inspecting and evaluating transport assets. Desirable: Associate Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification. Current Traffic Management Design qualification. Experience with Rapid Plan or similar traffic management software.
