About the role The Principal Biosecurity Officer (Animal Welfare, Biosecurity and Product Integrity) plays a strategic leadership role in delivering high-level advice and contributes to regulatory and response operations across Tasmania’s animal welfare, biosecurity and product integrity frameworks. Lead the development and maintenance of contemporary, efficient and high-quality systems and processes that uphold Tasmania’s animal welfare and biosecurity standards. Contribute to protecting the state’s primary industries, natural environment and unique way of life. Manage a small, high-performing team. Represent the department in stakeholder engagement and interagency collaborations. Lead high profile or complex compliance investigations and deliver enforcement outcomes. Hours per fortnight 73.50 hours per fortnight (minimum 58.80 hours, by negotiation). Desirable requirements Qualifications in law, regulatory compliance or animal science, or a related discipline. Authorisation under relevant legislation, or capacity to become authorised. Current motor vehicle driver’s licence. Firearms licence, or capacity to obtain a firearms licence.
