Within Funds Management, Challenger Investment Management (CIM) is one of Australia’s largest fixed income originators, with more than 20 years of experience investing across public and private credit markets. We are now inviting applications for our 2025/2026 Fixed Income Summer Internship Program. This 8-week paid program, commencing late November 2025, is designed for penultimate-year Undergraduate or Master’s students from diverse backgrounds who are looking to build a career in investment management. From day one, you’ll be involved in meaningful projects that set you up for future success. About the opportunity As an intern, you’ll gain first-hand experience with one of Australia’s leading fixed income managers. You will: Conduct credit and market research, analysing issuers, sectors and macroeconomic trends. Assist with portfolio analysis and reporting, learning how risk, return and capital are evaluated across asset classes. Support the investment team on valuation and monitoring, contributing to real projects that impact client outcomes. Alongside technical exposure, you’ll receive structured training, mentoring, and the support of a dedicated buddy. You’ll also have opportunities to expand your professional network across Challenger’s investment teams. Skills and experience Currently enrolled in a relevant undergraduate or master’s degree (Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering or similar), graduating in 2026. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a clear interest in fixed income and credit markets. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; financial modelling experience a plus. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. A genuine interest in investment management, shown through coursework, extracurricular activities or prior internships.
