We’re building the next generation of digital commerce platforms — including subscriptions, order management, and fulfilment microservices — and we’re looking for a PHP Tech Lead to guide the way. This isn’t a pure coding role or a pure manager role — it’s about owning technical direction, challenging vendors, and ensuring scalable, high-quality solutions in a complex retail environment. The Role Lead the design and development of PHP-based microservices for subscriptions, order management, and fulfilment; Review and validate agency code (PHP, API, middleware), holding external partners accountable for quality and performance; Provide technical guidance and architectural direction across digital initiatives; Work with the Solutions Architect and Product Owners to align technical delivery with business outcomes; and Balance hands-on technical depth with leadership and oversight of agency/vendor output. What We’re Looking For Strong PHP backend development experience in enterprise/eCommerce environments; Experience designing and reviewing microservices architectures; Background in eCommerce platforms (Magento, Shopify Plus, Laravel, Symfony, or similar); Knowledge of ERP/OMS/middleware integrations (order flow, payments, fulfilment); Ability to challenge solutions, spot risks, and guide scalable designs; and Excellent communication skills to work across product, business, and vendor teams.
