About the Role This temporary position is ideal for a professional with contact centre or customer service experience looking to make a difference in a public sector environment. As a Customer Contact Team Operator, you’ll be the first point of contact for members of the public, handling inbound calls, resolving enquiries, and delivering consistent, empathetic service. The role supports a high-performing, fast-paced contact centre team and offers hybrid work flexibility following an initial in-office training period. Customer Contact Operators – $34–$41/hr super Location: Hybrid – 19 O’Connell Street, Sydney (initial 1–2 weeks in-office for onboarding) Start Date: ASAP Duration: 3 months Hours: 35 hours/week (7 hours/day) Key Responsibilities Respond to incoming calls and enquiries with professionalism and empathy Provide accurate and timely information to the public across a range of services Navigate internal systems to document interactions and resolve issues Escalate complex or unresolved matters to senior staff when necessary Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion Participate in training sessions and team briefings as required Collaborate with colleagues and supervisors to support workflow efficiency Meet service delivery targets, quality standards, and KPIs About You Proven experience in a contact centre or high-volume customer service role Strong verbal communication and active listening skills Ability to manage emotionally sensitive conversations with empathy Tech-savvy with confidence using multiple systems simultaneously Able to quickly grasp and relay complex information accurately Reliable, punctual, and adaptable in a team-oriented environment Strong attention to detail and time management abilities Must possess a current National Criminal Record Check (or be willing to obtain) Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or long-term visa holder with full working rights – sponsorship is not available As a mandatory requirement for this contract role required by our client, applicants are kindly asked to complete a compliance check and upload their work rights verification at www.charterdiligence.com.au/portal.
