Marketing Communications Manager Location: Inner Melbourne (Hybrid - 2 days WFH) Salary: $120,000 - $130,000 Super (indicative) About the Organisation Our client is a respected membership body representing thousands of professionals across Victoria. With a strong focus on advocacy, data insights, training, and member services, the organisation plays a pivotal role in shaping its sector and supporting members to succeed. The team is collaborative, professional, and passionate about their purpose. With around 40 staff across advocacy, data, marketing, communications, and member services, they offer a dynamic environment where you'll have the chance to wear many hats, contribute directly to high-profile initiatives, and see the impact of your work. The Opportunity This is a rare chance to step into a broad, high-impact Marketing & Communications Manager role within a respected membership body. Reporting to the Head of Communications & Advocacy, you'll act as her trusted 2IC — providing day-to-day support, helping drive forward major initiatives, and ensuring continuity of leadership across the team. You'll be hands-on across the full communications mix, with genuine variety in your remit: Advocacy & Government Relations: Contribute to submissions, reports, and messaging that shape outcomes at both state and federal level. Your work will often be referenced publicly, giving you a direct line of sight to real-world impact. Media & PR: Support media relations and proactive PR activity that regularly generates millions in unpaid media coverage each month. You'll play a role in crafting key messages, managing issues, and building the organisation's reputation as a trusted industry voice. Content & Digital: Lead on content development across social media, podcasts, EDMs, member updates, and thought leadership pieces. With a new focus on growing the digital and social presence, you'll be instrumental in connecting with the organisation's 7,000 members and the broader community. Campaigns & Marketing: Oversee creative campaigns (delivered in partnership with agencies), ensuring alignment to brand, member value, and advocacy priorities. From training programs to industry events, your work will directly support engagement and growth. Team & Collaboration: Collaborate closely with the in-house data and advocacy teams, translating complex insights into compelling narratives. You'll also support a small marketing and comms team and work with external creative and media agencies. This role also comes with clear succession potential. The Head of Communications & Advocacy is looking for a proactive deputy who can step up and grow into a more senior leadership role over time. About You We're looking for a well-rounded marketing communications professional who thrives in a varied, fast-paced environment. You'll enjoy switching between strategy and execution, and have the confidence to collaborate with senior stakeholders while also rolling your sleeves up to get things done. Proven experience in marketing communications, PR, or stakeholder engagement. Strong writing skills, able to distil complex topics into clear, impactful messages. Comfortable working across multiple priorities in a membership, not-for-profit, or services environment. A self-starter with initiative, curiosity, and a willingness to learn outside your comfort zone. Strategic thinker with strong attention to detail, but not someone who gets lost in the detail. Collaborative, humble, and adaptable — thrives wearing many hats. Exposure to social media management, content creation, or digital marketing is desirable. Why Join? Work in a role with genuine variety and impact — no two days are the same. Contribute to projects that influence policy, media, and public debate. Hybrid working model (2 days WFH) with a supportive and engaged team culture. Access to training, development, and recognition initiatives. Clear succession pathway into a more senior leadership role.
