Senior Risk Manager, x15ventures Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Sydney, Australia Overview The Chief Controls Office is the first line of defence for risk management across x15's portfolio of digital ventures. We play a vital role in helping our ventures grow safely by identifying and managing risks early, and by embedding practical and efficient controls into the way we work. Our mission is simple: to support x15 in solving real customer problems while delivering excellent outcomes for both our customers and the business. Role overview We're looking for a risk leader to join x15ventures , reporting directly to the Head of Risk. This is a rare opportunity to shape the risk culture and strategy across our growing portfolio of nine digital ventures - while also playing a key role in the build, buy and invest strategy that powers the next wave of innovation for CommBank. In this role, you'll be at the forefront of new technologies and emerging businesses in financial services and beyond. You'll partner closely with founders, venture leaders, and CBA stakeholders to deliver innovation at pace - ensuring it happens in a safe, sound, and secure way. You will need to apply strong risk management principles to new and emerging areas, while driving transformation and working with high-performing team across all competencies including product and technology. You'll have the independence to make an impact and the opportunity to influence key stakeholders by building and maintaining strong relationships across x15ventures and CommBank. On any given day, you will Play a hands-on role in managing risk for strategic and innovative initiatives. Work with senior stakeholders to explain and manage risk, compliance obligations, and operations within appetite. Support ventures as they scale by driving risk uplift through action planning, delivery, and reporting. Provide thought leadership to transform and strengthen risk management practices. Partner with the business to embed a strong risk culture, governance, and reporting. Identify and communicate risk management requirement, providing insights to senior leaders and governance committees. Build and maintain strong relationships with ventures, CBA business partners, Line 2 Risk, and Group Audit. What Will Help You Succeed Proven experience in Operational Risk, Compliance, or Program Delivery. Knowledge of financial crime, payments, and financial services licensing obligations. Experience working with financial services, technology, and transformation programs. A passion for digital innovation and staying ahead of emerging industry trends, controls, and risks. A strong track record of building relationships and influencing stakeholders at all levels. Ability to think critically and analytically, using data-driven insights to solve problems.
