Director Electricity Performance, EL2 (EA2025/185) Join to apply for the Director Electricity Performance, EL2 (EA2025/185) role at ACCC Overview The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) is seeking a Director, Electricity Performance to lead a team in Market Performance. This role focuses on delivering reports related to the performance and outcomes of the National Electricity Market (NEM) and involves analytical assessment, stakeholder engagement, and leadership of a professional team. Responsibilities Conduct analytical assessments identifying emerging issues in the energy market. Lead a team of professionals, model leadership behaviours, support a collaborative working environment, coach, provide continuous feedback, resolve conflicts and facilitate career development. Manage the performance and development of teams and direct reports to empower and build knowledge and capability for high quality performance and team cohesion. Design and facilitate processes for consultation with stakeholders and assess submissions on energy sector issues. Lead the preparation of written material across formats and purposes, e.g., issues papers, regulatory determinations, reports, correspondence, briefings, guidelines, advice, speeches, and submissions. Represent the interests of the AER, building and managing stakeholder relationships with industry bodies, Government agencies (Commonwealth and State), consumer groups and internal stakeholders. About You A well-developed understanding, or ability to quickly acquire an understanding, of Australian energy markets and the role, purpose and objectives of the AER. Highly developed communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills, including the ability to negotiate with and influence internal and external stakeholders to achieve outcomes. Highly developed management skills, including demonstrated experience leading a team in a fast-paced and large, complex, people-centred organisation; and the ability to work with high levels of autonomy. Demonstrated capacity for strategic thinking, including the ability to anticipate priorities and risks. Relevant tertiary qualifications in economics, corporate finance, law, public policy or related fields with at least 5 years post-qualification experience involving managing and leading teams is highly desirable.
