This role supports commissioning, testing, and maintenance activities across substations, switchboards, and associated HV assets. The HV Operator ensures compliance with regulatory and site-specific safety requirements while providing technical support to project teams and clients. In this role, you will: Perform HV switching operations, isolations, and restorations in accordance with site procedures and safety regulations. Support commissioning and testing activities (including protection relay testing, CT/VT checks, and functional testing). Maintain compliance with electrical safety regulations and company safe work procedures (SWPs, SWMS, JSEAs). Work closely with HV Technicians, Engineers, and Project Managers to ensure safe and efficient execution of works. Conduct pre-start checks, risk assessments, and permitting prior to HV operations. Accurately record and report switching activities and testing results. Respond to operational issues or faults, assisting in fault-finding and restoration. Contribute to continuous improvement of HV operational practices. ABOUT YOU: Skills and Competencies: Strong understanding of HV systems (switchgear, transformers, protection schemes, HV cabling). Practical experience with HV switching and isolation procedures. Knowledge of Australian standards, electrical safety regulations, and compliance requirements. Competence in risk assessment, safe work procedures, and incident response. Ability to read and interpret single line diagrams, schematics, and protection settings. Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team in high-risk environments. Qualifications and Experience: Electrical trade qualification with engineering background (preferred). Current HV Switching Operator Authorisation/Accreditation within 3 years. Demonstrated experience in HV commissioning, testing, or operational roles. Familiarity with protection relay testing (ABB, Schneider, Siemens, etc.) and HV test equipment advantageous. Construction/Mining/Energy sector experience desirable.
